Downton sweep awards at Wessex League Dinner
Monday 23 May
The season may be over, but Downton's accolades continued as they swept the awards at the annual Wessex League awards dinner.
Downton's star striker Declan McGregor received Wessex League Division 1 Player of the Year. In an award that is voted for by other clubs, it displayed just how impressive Declan's performances have been throughout the year.
Manager Jeff Softley received Manager of the Year, again voted for by the clubs. Considering that this was Downton's first ever Wessex League championship, it was a fitting reward to Jeff for the work, effort and success this season.
Keeper Charlie Aldridge was awarded with safe hands for the most clean sheets of the season. Charlie's performances have been a major part of Downton's success.
On top of that, four players made it into the team of the season - again, voted for by the clubs. Alongside Dec and Charlie were Nic Turpin, whose 31 Wessex League and Cup goals and overall play were significant in securing the Robins first ever Wessex League trophy, and Calum Robertson, who has been hugely impressive in midfield all season.
Many congratulations to all the winners!

Under 9's Captain, Freddie Smith
Monday 9 May
Clarendon Juniors, Downton's affiliated youth set up, confirmed three major trophies as the Under 9s, Under 10s and Under 11s all managed to replicate Downton's successes this season.
